School Name: Ellis Elementary, which opened in the fall of 2004, was named after Suella Gilbert Ellis. Suella Gilbert Ellis was a pioneering educator in Prince William County, Virginia. She holds historical significance as the first African American administrator in the county's school system. Over her 35-year career, she served as both a teacher and an assistant principal, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students and educators.
Special Programs: Ellis Elementary is an accredited International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program School. For more information about our IB PYP program, visit our page on the IB website. The school also supports students through Special Education, English as a Second Language (ESOL), and Gifted Education. Additionally, students are offered numerous before- or after-school enrichment opportunities, including various clubs.
Opportunities for Parent and Community Involvement: Parents are encouraged to participate in the school's day-to-day activities. They may tutor small groups or individuals, help in the classroom, or participate in the many family activities offered. Parents may also get involved and help make decisions through the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) as well as a School Advisory Council.
