History

Ellis Elementary, which opened in the fall of 2004, was named after Suella Gilbert Ellis. Suella Gilbert Ellis was a pioneering educator in Prince William County, Virginia. She holds historical significance as the first African American administrator in the county's school system. Over her 35-year career, she served as both a teacher and an assistant principal, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students and educators.
