Dr. Jacks Principal

Dr. Andrew (Andy) Jacks is the new principal at Ellis Elementary School starting in July 2024. Dr. Jacks was previously the principal at The Nokesville School since 2021 and the principal at Ashland Elementary School since 2010. For over 23 years, Dr. Jacks has served as principal, summer school principal, assistant principal, and fifth-grade teacher, all within different regions of Prince William County Public Schools. Dr. Jacks has been recognized for his work as principal, including the 2018 Virginia Principal of the Year, 2018 Nationally Distinguished Principal, 2021 Professional Development Award, and 2019 Business Partnership of the Year Award.

Dr. Jacks received his Bachelor's Degree from Grove City College in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education, his Master's Degree from George Mason University in K-12 Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, and his Doctorate from Virginia Tech in K-12+ Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.

Dr. Jacks seeks ways for families to be engaged in school and for help with school decisions. Examples include Principal Coffee Chats, the Principal's Advisory Council, the PTO, and the Watch DOGS program.

Assistant Principal

Dr. Tonya Woods

Dr. Tonya Woods has been the assistant principal at Ellis Elementary School since 2022. She previously served in other administrative roles, such as Administrative Intern and Summer School Principal. Dr. Woods has experience in the classroom as a Kindergarten, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Teacher. 

Dr. Woods received her Bachelor's Degree from Philander Smith College in Vocal Music and Instrumental Music, her Master's Degree from the University of Memphis in Early Childhood Education, and her Doctorate from Walden University in Administrative Leadership for Teaching and Learning. 

Dr. Woods serves as the lead for procedures in standardized testing and special education services. She seeks ways for parents to be involved and receive the support they need for their children in school.
